YWCA Announces New General Secretary.

YWCA Belize, announces that Ms. Deanna Gomez Peyrefitte is the organization’s 9th General Secretary (GS) in the organization’s 60 plus years of service to Belize. Ms. Peyrefitte takes over from Mrs. Sonia Lenares, who is retiring after 26 years of exemplary service to the YWCA and the community. Ms. Peyrefitte has a Master’s of Business Administration Degree, Wheeling Jesuit University, West Virginia, USA. She is a result driven senior executive with over 25+ years’ experience in Management, Administration, Leadership, and Communication. She has experience in the NGO sector as well as proposal writing and project management.

Ms. Peyrefitte is very passionate about working in the NGO community and appreciates the impact of the work of the “Y” on the development of the people the organization serves. She indicated that the Y’s impact on women continues to be a great contribution to our Belizean community. During this transition period, Mrs. Lenares will work closely to orientate Ms. Peyrefitte. Additionally, the Board of Directors is committed to provide on-boarding support to Ms. Peyrefitte for the advancement of the organization’s mission. “We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” reported Dr Sheree Smiling Craig, President of the YWCA. “Deanna brings managerial experience, empathy, and resourcefulness to the “Y” and a vision for expanding the organization’s reach.” Ms. Peyrefitte’s appointment took effect on 6 November 2017
